The charming and cosmopolitan town of Westport has attracted tourists for many years. One of Ireland's few planned towns, it is designated as a Heritage Town and was the proud winner of the National Tidy Towns title in 2001 and Best Kept Town in 2003.

Amongst its outstanding features are the elegant tree-lined streets along the river known as the Mall, bustling Bridge Street, the main shopping street, traditional shop and pub fronts and the vibrant renovated Quay area.
